Brooks Cambium

The Brooks Cambium C17 has been a true joy since the fist ride. I have only about 300 miles on my new saddle but I am sure it will continue to impress for a long time.

Made of vulcanized natural rubber and organic cotton canvas the saddle was designed to have no break in period. I have tried a few other saddles like the Selle Anatomica (which is now on my wife's touring bike), but I knew this was something I wanted to try as soon as I saw it. I know that the peoples saddle opinions are very subjective and how my favorite might be your least, but its a Brooks. They have been making saddles since the 1880s.

I will take some outdoor shots to show the color in natural light (which is slate).

2013 Felt Z85

This is my first true road bike.

To date I have about 750 miles on the Felt and the majority of my thoughts are very positive. Here is a list of the after market items.

Continental Gator Skins
Look Keo Classic pedals
Bontrager cork tape
Brooks Cambium saddle

The Felt Z85 is an endurance aluminum frame with a carbon fork. The bike has Shimano 105 front and rear derailleurs. FSA Omega BB30 50/34T crankset, 12-32T cassette.
The wheelset is Mavic cxp 22 which are okay.....seem to go out of true easily.

I believe the way that Felt can keep the price point low is to use their in-house brand for brakes, cables, hubs, handlebars, saddle, seat post, as well as a few other things. I had some issues with the original brake pads, but it was an easy fix to replace them with some kool stops.......after that no issues.

For a bike in the sub $1,500 range I believe this bike to be an excellent choice.

Rocky Mounts TieRod

I picked up a pair of Rocky Mounts TieRod at the end of last season. I purchased them off of Amazon for around $130 each. They were very easy to install on my Subaru Outback with the stock roof rack. The locks would be the only complaint that I (and others) would have. The locks are ordered separately and the installation is not very user friendly. Although once you have them in they work fine. One of the best features of these racks is the low profile, my fuel economy has remained almost the same as before.
